Introduction

This site provides a focus for debate about urban poverty and tools for the reduction of poverty in urban areas in the context of international development policy. It is the home for the Localizing the Habitat Agenda for Urban Poverty Reduction research project, funded by the UK Government's Department for International Development (DFID) and led by the Max Lock Centre in partnership with UN-Habitat and a global team of researchers.

This site will be used to disseminate and gather feedback on the findings of this research.

The research project sets current thinking on urban poverty reduction in the context of the internationally agreed policy framework for sustainable urban development, the Habitat Agenda.

This site complements the efforts of others concerned with urban development, governance and poverty (see research outputs: links). It will be an active aid to those involved in recent urban poverty-focused research and the potential users of the research  findings. It serves as a resource for activists, practitioners and researchers engaged with  urban poverty and livelihoods issues within the context of sustainable development.
